Dr. Yu-Ren Wu is currently a professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of National Central University (NCU) in Taiwan. He has been studying the fields, "Design and Manufacture of Gears", "Design and Analysis for Screw Compressors/Vacuum Pumps" and "Nonlinear Dynamics of Mechanical Systems" since 2009. He has served as a PI and implemented more than 30 industry-university cooperation research projects and 19 projects of Taiwan Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), with a total amount of more than 40.4 million NTD. So far, as the first or corresponding author, he has published 19 SCI journals. He received "Da-You Wu Memorial Award" from Taiwan MOST in 2020, "Outstanding Research Award" for 108 and 109 school years and "Outstanding Young Researcher Award" of NCU in 2021.


In recent years, he devotes himself to the research and development of precision gear machining technologies. He has developed the innovative technologies in CNC gear honing, including: dual lead-crowning, anti-twist correction and closed-loop topological tooth modification. Since 2019, he is conducting a three-year "Outstanding Young Scholar Research Project" of Taiwan MOST. He proposed a technology to control tooth surface grinding texture with CNC grinding machine to reduce high-frequency gear-meshing noise. This achievement was awarded the 17th "Gold Award of HIWIN Machinery Thesis Contest" in 2021 and authorized to HIWIN Technologies Corp. In addition, he has been cooperating with HANBELL Precise Machinery Co., LTD. for 12 years to develop the design and manufacture technologies of screw rotors for screw compressors and vacuum pumps. Research results were published in the well-known journals, “International Journal of Refrigeration” and “Vacuum”. Furthermore, his group was the first one in the world to apply "Multi-Body Dynamics" and "Discrete Element Method" coupling analysis technique on vibration suppression of the gear system with damping particles. The related results have been published in the journal, Nonlinear Dynamics (top 5.2% ranking in Mechanics).
